canoonet Search in the toolbar of your Web browser
canoonet always standby! You can now add canoonet to the search engines in the toolbar of your Web
browser.
This service enables you to look up a word in canoonet by simply entering it into the search field in the upper right
corner of your browser window. You will have immediate access to the information offered by canoonet.
Simply click the link below. The installation is carried out automatically. You will immediately be able to select
canoonet as search engine in the browser toolbar.
canoonet Search is available for the all browsers supporting OpenSearch, namely
- Firefox 2.x
- Internet Explorer 7.x

Dashboard Widget for Mac OSX
A canoonet dashboard widget is available for Mac OS X. It allows you to search for a German word in the canoonet
dictionaries. The free widget was developed by canoonet user Olaf Marzocchi (http://www.marzocchi.net/Olafsen).

To install the canoonet widget on your Mac:
- Download the widget here and unpack the zip file.
- Doubleclick the widget symbol.
- Click Install to confirm that you would like to install the widget
- Click Keep to complete the install process.
Go to the dashboard and type a German word in the input field. A web browser window opens and displays the corresponding
canoonet page.
Placing a bookmarklet for the Canoo dictionary
For the dictionary you additionally have the possibility to use a so-called Bookmarklet. After its integration into
the Link-Toolbar you can mark a word in the browser and click on the bookmarklet. This action initiates a query using
your selection in a separate window. The result is displayed subsequently. If no word was selected upon the
bookmarklet's start it works like a normal link to the dictionary.
There are two different ways to integrate the bookmarklet depending on your browser type:
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Add the following link to your favorites by clicking on it with the right mouse-button and then selecting
the menu item "Add to Favorites ..". The Explorer bookmarklet works for Windows only.

Add the following link to your bookmark list by clicking on it with the right mouse button (on the
Macintosh, press the mouse button until the menu appears) and by selecting the menu item "Add Bookmark".

Working interactively with the Canoo Dictionary out of your own HTML documents
It is also possible to work interactively with the Canoo dictionary
out of your own web pages: you have to integrate a text field in your web page which allows you to enter the word you
want to look up. The necessary HTML-Code is added below. It can be copied directly into your code.

Working interactively with the Canoo Dictionary using Microsoft Word
97/2000
Using a specialized add-in you can use the Canoo online dictionaries
together with MS Word 97 und MS Word 2000. The add-in generates an additional tool bar which contains a book symbol. To
check its spelling mark a word contained in your document and click on the book symbol. The result is displayed in a new
browser window.
To install the Word Add-In you must download it onto your computer by klicking on the Link
with the right mouse button and by selecting "Save as.." Then double-click on the downloaded file canoo.doc
after which Word is started and the document is displayed. The next steps for the installation of the add-in are
described in this Word document.
Special Note: The add-In is realized as macro, so you can get a security warning while opening the canoo.doc
file!
How to specify hyperlinks to canoonet
From any of your web pages or digital presentations as e.g. MS Power Point, you can directly refer on any content of our
Online Services like an overview page or tables within a page.
In order to do so navigate to the page you want to link and mark the Internet address which is displayed in the
address or location field of your browser. Copy the marked address onto the clipboard. Now you can insert a
hyperlink into your Web Page or presentation by pasting in the URL from the clipboard into the field of the target
address. After labeling the hyperlink your dcument now contains a reference to one of our pages. By clicking on the
hyperlink the corresponding page is being displayed if you are connected to the Internet or the page is still stored in
your browser's cache.
