schön, blau, grün, groß, klein, glücklich, unglücklich, kinderlos, einwandfrei, ungewaschen, vieldeutig, geographisch, italienisch, komplementär
The main function of adjectives is to describe characteristics and features of persons, animals, things, situations, etc.
In a sentence, adjectives can have to following syntactic functions:
When they are attributes of a noun, adjectives are usually inflected. They agree in number, gender and case with the noun they accompany. In all other positions in the sentence, adjectives are uninflected.
Many adjectives can be compared:
groß, größer, am größten unglücklich, unglücklicher, am unglücklichsten
In a sentence, adjectives can be used as independent nouns:
das Schöne, der Alte, die Glückliche, die Verwandten
A special kind of adjectives are the numerals like drei, dritte, drittel, dreierlei, etc.
