An adversative clause is a subordinate clause introduced by a subordinating adversative conjunction.
Meaning:
Adversative clauses are adverbial clauses expressing an opposition or a contrast to what is said in the main clause. Usually, it does not matter which one of the two contrasting events is expressed in the main clause and which one in the adversative clause.
